Club Record Setters

Members of the Manawatu Microlight Club have been at the forefront of microlight aviation in New Zealand for the last 20 years.

Highlights have been:
• Club member John Bolton-Riley's solo record-breaking, two-way, first microlight crossing of the Tasman in his Sky Arrow, ZK JBR - Feilding to Coffs Harbour and return. He has since flown a Tecnam Golf from Feilding to Adelaide.

• Club member Robin Reid's winning of the US Ultralight Association Ultralight Flying Magazine 1997 Flight of the Year Award with Ian Todd for the "planning, co-ordination and execution of an incredible maiden voyage flight from the Titan Aircraft factory in Geneva, Ohio, to Florida and onto California in a Titan Tornado 912 - dubbed Micro Kiwi." The trip took a week. This aircraft was later shipped to NZ.

• Club members Paul Havill and John Bolton-Riley's first-ever microlight flight Feilding to the Chatham Islands and return. Paul flew his Avid, ZK JHW, and John, his Sky Arrow, ZK JBR.
